Kuwait - 10th May 2013: ‘Songit
Sanz’ - a Konkani musical evening entitled ‘Kazar Zatam, Punn?’, presented by
the dynamic Trio Kings of Kuwait Cajetan de Sanvordem-Michael D’Silva-Mario de
Majorda was staged at the Indian
Community School hall, Salmiya on 10th May 2013.
The show was
organized by United Friends Club, a well-known Goan club in Kuwait, popular for
its football activities, and for holding regular Konkani events and supporting
the cause of Konkani language and Goan art in general.
Goan drama and
Konkani music, songs, fulfils its function to divert one’s mind from reality
and drama lovers fall for the con. With an average crowd, the show seemed like
a lovely antidote to enjoy an evening in this busy world.
Opening song
of the evening sung by Irene-Gracy-Cajetan-Michael-Mario-Katty-Seby-Braz was a
treat to watch. It depicted the love of Goans for football and sport in a
country like Kuwait.
Laurente
Pereira sang an expressive song ‘Ghatki Amig’ with his ever-powerful voice.
Lopes Brothers were at their usual best too singing a trademark duo.
Michael
D’Silva appeared in majority of the songs. His songs were based on the funny
side of life. Michael’s first song ‘Postman’ reminded the audience of the
glory-days of Goan postal service. In his other song, he encouraged the
audience to sing-along to his tune of ‘Eth’la Barra’.
Kuwait’s Trio Kings Cajetan-Michael-Mario sure lived up to
expectations singing in style with their blend of incredible
voices. They sang ‘Bolatkar’, a song on recent issues in the society
while their song with Clemmie was an absorbing song too.
Gracy Morais
and young Clemmie (Cajetan de Sanvordem’s daughter) rendered their voice for a
song called ‘Visiting’ which threw light on the hard-life faced by husbands
abroad. Voices of both the women sounded exceptionally sweet.
Katty de
Navelim’s ‘Posko’, was another beautiful song that captured hearts of audience.
Bab Agnel’s song ‘Xirap’ was appealing too. Edward Estibeiro sang a marvellous
song in the voice and attire of a male and female.
The ‘Songit
Sanz’ had a variety of other
songs by Zeferino Mendes, Seby Jr
& Seby Mascarenhas, Braz de Parra, Anthony D’Silva, Agnelo Fernandes, etc.
Esparansa & Gasper Crasto sang a rhythmic song choreographed with dance
steps; the theme of the song was based on the ‘Last days of Earth’.
Maestro Shahu
Almeida provided a one-man music for the entire show which was enthralling as usual.
‘Kazar Zatam, Punn?’ is play full of funny acts involving a father intense in
getting his daughter married off to grooms that hop in with endless proposals.
Mangalorean
star Lucy Aranha and comedian
Nelson Colaso entertained the audience with their alluring acts. The presence
of the 2 stars was fabulous on stage. They made the audience laugh with peals
of laughter in all the skits of ‘Kazar Zatam, Punn?’. Nelson Colaso in
particular, a regular on Konkani stage in Kuwait, was highly entertaining with
his style and colorful costumes.
Gracy Morais,
with her attractive outfits and delightful acts, was paired, this time, as a
daughter to Cajetan de Sanvordem who played an autocratic role of an
ex-military man. Irene Vaz and Clara Rodrigues made their presence felt too in
the ice-breakers while Comedian Salu Faleiro played his part with gusto in a
series of side-splitting jokes.
Clara
Rodrigues was incharge of the sets while Felix de Merces, Jesrico Dias and
Sunny Dias provided backstage support. The sound-system was provided by Anand.
