Organizers Navelim
Youth Centre-Kuwait have recently completed 25 glorious years of its existence
in Kuwait.
Over the past 25
years, Navelim has built a solid foundation of history, strength and success
which has become synonymous with Navelim villagers and Goans living in Kuwait.
The club hopes everyone can join in the silver jubilee celebrations and
continue to foster strong relations with the club’s extended family -- the Goan
and the Indian community in general.
The club’s many
achievements in the past are evidence of its commitment to the club’s slogan,
‘United We Stand’, as can be seen from examples elsewhere among Navelkars.
Collectively, the club has organized numerous projects and raised tens of thousands
for charities back home.
The village of
Navelim has a rich history of football and is known to have produced many
players who have progressed to fame on the football field and into professional
careers.
The philosophy of
the club has been to ensure that the players and members enjoy their week. The
club which has won every trophy at stake among Indians in Kuwait has gone from
strength to strength ever since its inception.
Meanwhile, in the semifinals of
the prestigious KIFF League played last Friday, 6-time champions NYC thrashed
United Friends 5-0 to storm into yet another finals of the J.P. D’Mello Trophy.
Navelim’s ex-East Bengal and Churchill Bros star Bernard Pires scored a brace
while Simon Gaonkar, Sanford Cardoso and Cruzedio Rodrigues scored a goal
apiece. NYC will meet all Kerala team Indian Strikers in the final to be played
at Qadsiya Stadium on 14th June 2013.
