Kuwait: A new Konkani audio CD ‘Hanv Tancho Upkari’ (Am grateful to them) will be released 4th May 2014 in Kuwait, Goa and London.

The album is produced by Kuwait based Goan singer Pedro Fernandes popularly known as Pitu Ferns. It consists of 12 incredible tracks. Famous Goan artistes who have rendered their voice in the CD include Marcus Vaz, Tony de Ribandar, Seby de Divar, Rosario de Benaulim, Antonette de Maina, Delton, Mario Pinto, Daisy, Comedian Selvy, etc. Pitu Ferns and his son Francisco too feature in the album.

Music for the album is provided by Johny Pereira, Exodus Studio, Navelim, Goa.
“It was my wish to release the CD on the day of my Cortalim village feast of patrons St. Phillip and St. James,” says Pitu proudly.

Pitu hails from Novo Palmar, Cortalim. He has been a singer right from his school days. During his young age, Pitu’s singing talents were brought to light by Mr. Manuel Fernandes, a well-known playright from Cortalim village in Goa, who mostly cast him in plays aired by All India Radio, Panaji.

A versatile singer with a deep baritone, Pitu has featured in celebrated Goan star Junior Rod’s audio CD ‘Devacho Ugddass Etolo’. Recently, he sang a beautiful solo entitled ‘Nanvache Kristanv’ in the traditional Goan ‘Khell’ organized by Kuwait Konkani Mogi on Easter Sunday in Kuwait City.

“Maestro Shahu Almeida gave me a break to sing on stage in Kuwait,” stated Pitu, saying he is ever indebted to the ace Goan musician for the encouragement.

The modest singer works for the Marzouk family in Kuwait since 1997. Happily married to Gracy Pereira, Pitu has 2 sons Francisco and Cedrick. Pitu has dedicated the album to his parents Bernardo Fernandes and Natalina Barretto and their immortal love.

“I hope and pray the album turns out to be a blockbuster,”says Pitu Ferns. “It is my request to fans to buy a original CD and kill piracy..”
