Kuwait: Tiatrs, as we all know, have many variations of songs -- from solos to duets to duos to trios.
While the sideshows and songs have become a part of tiatr fabric which the audience eagerly look forward to after every tragic ‘pordho’; tiatrs can never be complete without a Trio song in it.
Kuwait’s latest tiatr ‘VANVANK CHUKLEAR GANVANK CHUKTA’ on 28th Sept 2018 at SIMS hall -- directed by Shri Domnic Fernandes is set to entertain audience with some of the best available singing talent -- local as well as visiting.
The title of the drama is equivalent to the English proverb: A miss by an inch is a miss by a mile.
The list of singers will be headed by popular Goan political singer Seby de Divar, a delight of global Goans.
Other visiting artistes who are expected to sing their best include: Joao de Zuari (UK), Agnelo Valentino Lobo, Cajiton de Cacora, Clayea Rodrigues, etc.
Local artistes are geared up as well to entertain Kuwait. A unique feature of the show will be Trios from Kuwait-based artistes.
BRIEF HISTORY OF TRIOS
The professional stage has seen many trios of renown but the most popular and long-lasting ones can be counted on the fingers.
In the history of Tiatro, the first known trio is said to be Kid-Young-Rod who created heavy effect on the audience during their era. All the 3 artistes were gigantic figures and up to now, some of our oldies say, no one has been able to emulate them.
Then came the famous political trios of Conception-Nelson-Anthony who ruled the 80’s and 90’s.
The other popular trio that was in existence, as tiatro history tells us, was of Rom-Rem-Rod; they too were known to direct their songs and tirade on the political situation of Goa.
Other notable trios in the past were Wilmix Trio and Zeemix Trio.
While some professionals keep shuffling between teams, the Dubai Trio of Edwin D’Costa-Manuxin-Anthony de Nuvem are in limelight for many years now and going strong. They are probably the most recognized trio at present/
TRIO SONGS IN KUWAIT
Trio songs in Kuwait have created great sensation and solid impact on the minds of audience.
Legendary Mendes Bros ruled Kuwait for a long time, they are talked about by Kuwaitkars even to this day.
After the departure of adorable Cajetan de Sanvordem and Michael D’Silva who teamed up with Mario de Majorda for many years and became very popular, a formidable trio is yet to be established in Kuwait.
Hence, everyone will be curious about trio singers donning the stage.
One may not see the tradition of past trios and new trios may not have the charm to deliver the goods. Nevertheless, Kuwait audience can look forward to some entertaining and quality performances.
Trios that will light up the stage on 28th Sept 2018 are as follows:
1. Gasper Crasto-Domnic Fernandes-Agnelo Fernandes:
The trio is expected to sing on some interesting truths about Goan priests in Kuwait. Director Domnic leads the team accompanied by Agnelo Fernandes (Shiroda) and Gasper Crasto.
2. Gennifer Marshall-Zelia D’Souza-Querobina Carvalho:
The 3 ladies have been singing trios on stage for the last couple of years in Kuwait. Their latest song is based on Kuwaitkars which is gonna be very attention-grabbing for Kuwait audience.
Veteran superstar Querobina leads the gang with Zelia and Gennifer making a great team
3. Manu de Mandur-Lucy Aranha Lobo-Braz de Parra
With the presence of Mangalorean comedy star Bai Lucy Aranha Lobo, this will surely be a comedy trio. Incidentally, Lucy is singing on stage for the first time and she expects lot of encouragement from the audience, as usual.
Popular singer-composer Braz de Parra has set the song.
4. Valentina Pinto-Valentino Pinto-Domnic Fernandes
Domnic’s last song with the kids was a huge hit in his Silver Jubilee show where the brother-sister duo of Valentina-Valentino dazzled along with another kid Joshua and were encored several times.
It is always great to see children born and brought up abroad singing in our ‘ruchik’ Konkani. Not just a treat to watch, it’s a must watch for everyone in love with our language and traditions.
