Many of us have lost dear ones and close friends in recent days.
Navelkars around the globe were dealt with shock and grief by the untimely deaths of 2 great sons of Navelim – Bishut (Benecdicto) Themudo and Frankie Pires.
While Frankie died on 10th May, Bishut breathed his last on 12th May – both suffering cardiac arrest.
𝘽𝙄𝙎𝙃𝙐𝙏 𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙈𝙐𝘿𝙊 – 𝘼 𝙇𝙀𝙂𝙀𝙉𝘿 𝙊𝙁 𝙉𝘼𝙑𝙀𝙇𝙄𝙈
Ex-Sarpanch and one of the most popular personalities of Navelim, Bishut was 71; he is survived by his wife and three daughters.
Bishut served two terms (between 2010 to 2018) as Executive Committee Member of the Goa Football Association (GFA).
He was President of Navelim Villagers Union in the past and was currently President of Navelim Sporting Club, and President of Fabrica of Rosary Church, Navelim.
Bishut was founder president of Navelim Sporting and founder member of Navelim Villagers Union and its vice-president.
The familiar face of Bishut will be fondly remembered for his humor, humbleness and generosity, and for his love and dedication towards football. He was a kindhearted person and very helpful in public life. He served as a Sarpanch and Zilla Panchayat member.
Bishut's father, popularly known as 'Nervam Voiz' was a renowned doctor of his time - still fondly remembered by people in and around Navelim.
A true son and a gentleman of Navelim – coming from a palatial home at Dongorim, Bishut was residing in Colva for the past many years.
Bishut was a multifaceted personality – an orator, toastmaster, a great MC, and once a front-runner for the Navelim constituency Assembly seat. A fount of general and political knowledge, he could bring life into toasts and speeches with his anecdotes and puns.
Bishut’s friendly smile, and the sweetness of his blinking eyes will be missed by everyone.
𝙁𝙍𝘼𝙉𝙆𝙄𝙀 𝙋𝙄𝙍𝙀𝙎
Hailing from Dialgona, Frankie was always at hand to reach out to the needy.
A decent football player during his younger days, he shone for his ward Dialgona and Navelim playing as a striker.
Frankie was also involved in the promotion of football. He was Team Manager of Navelim Sporting.
An active member of the Navelim Parish, Frankie was a gem of a guy involved in a number of social and charitable activities in Navelim. He worked 24x7 for the betterment of the village.
He was seen all throughout the Covid-19 pandemic assisting at the Navelim Health Centre.
His good works will never be forgotten.
