Norbert Gonsalves, a legend of Indian football, was such a huge player for Salgaocar when Goan football was at its peak during Bandodkar Gold Trophy matches at Rajendra Prasad stadium, Margao in the late 80s and later in the early 90s at Fatorda stadium till he retired.
Norbert's lethal combination with another feared stopper-back Antonio Rebello in the 80s, and later with Derick Pereira, is still talked about all across Indian football as they went on to play for India.
Norbert captained Salgaocars, and has probably won every trophy at stake in India - Durand Cup, Rovers Cup, Federation Cup, Bandodkar Gold Trophy, Sait Nagjee Trophy, Bordoloi Trophy, etc, and also the Santosh Trophy with Goa.

Personally, it was a dream come true and delight to score one of my first goals of the Goan GFA league against Salgaocar with Norbert in defence when I first captained Agassaim Club in 1990.
Later, I was a fortunate to play in the same team, Salgaocars, as Norbert and so many other legends of Goan football, and learn so many things under his guidance.
Here's wishing you a Happy Birthday Norbert bab, may God's abundant blessings be with you always.
