Both teams played exciting football and kept the spectators entertained till the end. Roy Pathrose put the Strikers ahead in the first half with a precision header. Godwin Fernandes restored parity for United midway into the second session that sent the teams into extra time. The tie-breaker was enforced after the teams finished 1-1.

Indian Strikers goalkeeper Naufal Man saved the first penalty kick of Teotonio Fernandes while Remedios Fernandes hit United’s last ‘kick’ on the post.

Earlier, the teams were introduced to the chief guest Ms. Sharon Alemao D’Costa, daughter of Shri Churchill Alemao, Goa’s PWD Minister. Sharon, who was accompanied by her husband Denis D'Costa, was presented with a bouquet of flowers on her arrival at the grounds by Miss Alisha Fernandes.

Special invitee Miss Larissa Lopez, a young, Goan singing sensation and proprietor of Jacqueline's Saloon D'Spa back at Navelim-Goa, was also introduced to the players. Presidents of participating clubs were among the dignitaries present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion NYC President Agnello A.S. Fernandes, congratulated the winning team, thanked the sponsors and the wonderful spectators who witnessed the final. On a humorous note, he stated that NYC was pleased to present the original trophy and not the replica in an apparent reference to the recent cricket world cup's controversial news about a fake cup.

Ms Sharon, in her speech, highly praised the efforts of Navelim Youth Centre for bringing the Indian community together in friendship by organizing the tournament in Kuwait for the last several years.

An amazing banner created by Agustine Dias was put up by the organizers at the presentation ceremony. DJ Mario, who provided lively music between the breaks, was an instant hit with the spectators.
