Kuwait: A group of Goans organized a grotesque ‘Arabain Nights’ party of family and friends at a chalet in Kabd over the weekend.
The event organized to ‘cool down the summer’ began with a devotional hymn; everyone rendered their vocals in a warm, merry grace.
Main coordinator of the event Tessy Noronha welcomed the guests and addressed the party. She said it gave her great happiness to see familiar faces together as a family. “We have been living in a distant Arab land for years, let us enjoy the summer in Kuwait -- Arabic style,” she added.
The Arabic decor all around the place gave a marvelous Arabian ambience.
LIVE MUSIC
The main attraction of the party was the presence of energizing 2#Sharp –live band comprising of famous Goan Maestro Shahu Almeida accompanied by his partner Moses Vaz. The latest tracks belted out by 2#Sharp plugged with a blend of select Goan masala kept everyone rocking through the night.
The highlight of the program was a family parade in Arabic attire, and a special dance performance by the ladies comprising of Alisha Rodrigues, Antush Carneiro, Charmaine Ferrao, Tase Noronha, Esparansa Crasto, Marissa Noronha and Sonia Carneiro.
SKIT, SONGS, DANCES & JOKES
A short skit was enacted on the occasion by Mangalorean guests Clifford Aranha and Lucy Aranha, while a number of Konkani, Hindi & English songs were presented by Esparansa & Gasper Crasto, Katty de Navelim, Zenita Aranha, Clemmie Almeida, Britto Pereira, Jessy Gaonkar and Travis Rodrigues.
Marissa Noronha’s super dance performance, a la-Nachom-ia Kumpasar impersonation; and a special dance choreographed by Tase Noronha & Milagres Rodrigues left everyone mesmerized.
Cajetan Pereira, Norman Noronha, Shahu Almeida and Milagres Rodrigues entertained everyone with lively jokes.
On the kids’ part, little Krisha & Rheana had an amazing dance, well appreciated by everyone.
BARBEQUE, GAMES, PRIZES & GIFTS
Britto Pereira, Simon Goankar, and Avelino Dias coordinated with the ‘sets on location’ while the games were organized by Marissa Noronha, Sonia Carneiro, Travis Rodrigues, Esparansa and Clemmie Almeida.
A barbeque and Arabic food was set up to symbolize the Arabic culture. Everyone had their share of the bounty as numerous prizes, gifts, etc, were disbursed all through the party.
Priscilla Dias and Norman Noronha bagged prizes for the most Perfect Arabic Female & Male.
Edwin David, Arun, Tracy David, Lucy Aranha, Katty Carneiro, Gaspar Rodrigues, Cajetan Pereira and Norman Noronha extended warm wishes to everyone present while a number of other guests came up with individual messages.
The fun and games, dancing and singing and music continued till dawn. Tase Noronha proposed a vote of thanks thanking everyone for making the event cheerful and memorable.
Anchor Gasper Crasto ensured everyone had a great time; Esparansa had a brief prayer to culminate the curtains on the exotic ‘night’.
