Gulf Voice Unites Goans: Newsflash

Kuwait: The first GULF VOICE OF GOA Konkani singing competition – a tribute to legendary musician & lyricist CHRIS PERRY, brought together Goans of all diversity in a mega show of entertainment at Khaldiya University Auditorium - 22nd February 2019.

The event was organized in aid of BAHRAIN CATHEDRAL.

Goan Cultural Centre President Carmo Santos, who in the past has organized events of substance such as Global Goans Convention and the first Konkani Film Festival (outside India) in Kuwait, was at the helm of it creating history once again.

Mr. Santos was well supported by famous Goan NRIs in the Middle-East -- Agnello Fernandes and Bosco Leitao (Kuwait), Simon D’Silva (Doha Qatar), Gabriel Crasto and Francis Correia (Bahrain), Gabby de Chandor (Dubai), and Anthony Lourenco (Muscat).

A number of celebrity artistes and delegates took part in the 5 and a half hour non-stop, entertaining show which saw the crowning of Kuwait’s Romeo Braganza (Male) and Dubai’s Aviella D’Souza (Female) as the best Gulf Goan singers with John Pereira (UAE) and Slenzitta D'Cruz (Bahrain) finishing as Runner-ups.

Music was arranged by Kuwait's Maestro Soccor De Mello and Fredrico De Mello, in addition to Maestros Faustino Menezes and Norman Cardozo.

ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS of the show was the return on stage of one of Konkani stage’s most respected and loving son and star Jose Rod after a gap of over 10 years which brought a standing ovation from everyone.

A friendly and encouraging audience attended the show, most were unmoved until the very end.
