Frontline health workers are the backbone of effective health systems anywhere in the world.
Most frontline staff often come from the community they serve, they play a critical role in providing local context for proven health solutions especially in these turbulent times.
Among hundreds of frontline people serving the country, we have our own Navelkar Mrs. Maya Arvade, wife of our ex-Navelim star footballer Sukhdev Arvade.
𝗠𝗔𝗬𝗔 𝗔𝗥𝗩𝗔𝗗𝗘 is one of the important faces around playing her part as a nurse at ESI hospital Margao which was recently in the news for hosting quarantined Indians arriving from abroad.
Maya has received great backing from her husband Sukhdev, a seafarer on cruise liners, presently stuck at home due to the pandemic.
Sukhdev Arvade is a former star player who starred for clubs such as Dempo Sports Club, Churchill Brothers, VLM Sports Club, Vasco Sports Club, etc.
Sukhdev also played for Goa in the Santosh Trophy.
Playing as a striker, Sukhdev scored plenty of goals for the club and state, and also for our village club Navelim Sporting in inter-village tournaments.
Incidentally, today is International Nurses Day – a great day to express our gratitude to sister Maya, and to Sukhdev as well for all the support he provides to his wife, despite having his aging mother and kids at home.
