Kuwait: A few number of Goan actors are regarded for their powerful voices in dramas. They usually have the ability to sway emotions of the audience with their commanding voice – acting or singing.

There are plenty of examples of actors with distinct baritone voices and personalities.

The legendary Bab Peter used to ‘shake’ the stage with his deep, hoarse voice in roles suited for aggressive dialogues, while history names a number of other celebrated artistes such as Kid Boxer, Robin Vaz, Seby Coutinho, etc, who were known for their magnetic, spellbinding ‘voices’. Among the existing blend, Anil Pednekar and Anil kumar are probably best known for their great set of lungs.

Kuwait-based Laurente Pereira, hailing from Utorda, is an actor who has made quite an impression on Konkani stage in singing, acting and directing mega dramas – a notable star, who arguably has one of the best voices among Goan stage actors.

The evergreen actor-singer will be seen in yet another important role in the mega show 'SATH PANVDDE' scheduled to be staged Friday 7th November 2014 at the American School Hall, Maidan Hawally starting 4.30pm sharp.

From playing a grandfather to a brother to a hero, Laurente is one of Kuwait’s much loved actors and a humble artiste who doesn't seem to ever turn down a role he's offered, or miss an opportunity to be on stage.

A long-time resident in Kuwait, Laurente, recently released his audio CD in Kuwait entitled, ‘Tovui Ek Munis’ which was very successful. It was Laurente’s second project after the stupendous success of his maiden audio album "Goenchi Mati" released in 2008.

One of Kuwait’s successful directors, Laurente Pereira first stepped on stage at the age of 11 years.

He has staged mega Konkani dramas in Kuwait like “Tuje Upkar” in 2001, "Lokhachim Thonddam Bondh...!" in 2003 and the super-duper hit “Hea Gharachim Dharam Bondh..!” in 2006.

Married to Remy Pereira, Laurente is blessed with 2 lovely daughters.

A student of St. Anthony’s High School, Majorda, Laurente works for the Ministry of Defence (Kuwait Air Force). Drama remains Laurente’s biggest passion other than watching football and spending time with the family.
