A true story by Gasper CrastoI had a reading to do at church at the weekend.
Holy Family Cathedral, Kuwait City.
I started early and reached the church one hour before mass.
Since there was plenty of time, I went to the ADORATION CHAPEL.
The ambience of peace in front of the consecrated host placed in a typical sunburst monstrance, with a gigantic Bible lying adjacent to it in a glass cabinet, and the aroma of fresh flowers - is simply heavenly there.
After my perpetual adoration of Jesus, with my attention anchored on the Eucharistic presence of Christ, I prayed the litany of Our Lady of Rosary, twice - both English & Latin which I know by-heart.
Then I picked up a Bible and closed my eyes, and whispered, “Jesus speak to me; Jesus speak to me…”
This has been Esparansa, my wife’s solemn practice and advice ever since we got married.
Keeping my eyes closed, I opened the Bible at a random page and read the first Chapter on the right side. It was from the New Testament, there was no ribbon or bookmark at that page, none in the Bible whatsoever.
I read with pure conviction and faith, concentrating on every word, but was a bit disappointed because I didn't hear or feel any voice speaking – within me or outside the chapel.
GOD SPEAKS TO US, BUT HOW?
Later I went for mass.
As the service continued, I was stunned and amazed to hear what I heard. The Gospel reading of the day read Rev. Fr. Antony Lopes was the same Chapter from the Bible that I had just read in the Adoration Chapel - John 21:1-19.
Divine🙏!!!
The 'Word' sent reverberations within me rest of the mass, and I contemplated on what Jesus said.
He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. ~John 21:6
The message interpreted by one of my priest friend when I shared the incident was as spiritual as my experience, he said:
When there is something we're not seeing, or hearing, or when we can't recognize God - God still sees us, hears us. Jesus is with us to teach us the grace and strength we need: to live on the right side of life – no matter what.
