Goan actress Jessie Dias, known as the ‘Mother of Konkani stage’ arrived in Kuwait to star in ‘AMI KHUXAL’ – a drama to be staged Friday 10th November 2017 at SIMS auditorium, Kuwait.
Jessie was received at Kuwait International Airport by Directors Braz de Parra & Manu de Mandur. Also present to receive the legendary actress were Manuel Goes, Carmo Santos, Comedy Queen Querobina Carvalho & Gennifer Marshall.
The veteran star hailing from Anjuna - Goa is not just known for her ‘motherly’ roles, but also for her generous deeds in the society and the concern she holds towards Konkani art and language.
Jessie has been acting on Konkani stage for over 50 years.
At a young age, Jessie had the opportunity to work and sing with Alfred Rose, C. Alvares, Young Mendes, Lawrence de Tiracol, Francis de Parra, etc, and many other legends.
Some of her most memorable roles as a mother have been in C. Alvares’s tiatr– ‘Orad Goykar’, ‘Gharache Vantte’, ‘Axea’, etc. Jessie’s versatility as an actress was tested when she was cast in a comedy role by C. Alvares in his tiatrs ‘Mazor Zalem Cat’ and ‘Mhojem Rogot’ in the eighties.
Jessie has acted in tiatrs of all topmost directors apart from acting in non-stop dramas of Ligorio Ferandes, A.M. Pacheco, Rosario Rodrigues, Jose Rod, Anthony San, Roseferns, Patrick Dourado, Pascoal Rodrigues, etc.
Besides, Jessie is well-known for her roles in Konkani movies such as ‘Girestkai’, ‘Zababdari’, ‘Mariola’, ‘Vadoll’, ‘Utta to Budd’tta’, ‘Amchi Chukh’, etc. Jessie has also rendered her voice in audio albums of Bab Peter, Lawrence de Tiracol as well as on L.P. records of some senior artistes.
During her illustrious career, the ‘Mother’ has won a number of prestigious awards that include the Goa State Cultural Award, the Dalgado Konknni Akademi Cultural Award, TAG Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr award, Dr. Jack de Sequeira Award, Cine Times Award for best actress in the tiatr ‘Gharachem Sukh’, etc.
The much admired Jessie is expected to be at her best in Kuwait on 10th Nov 2017.

The drama will be a combined production of Braz de Parra and passionate Kuwait-based artiste Manu de Mandur.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR OF ‘AMI KHUXAL’
Braz de Parra has been a regular feature on Konkani stage right from his childhood.
Winner of Kala Academy Best Singer Award in 1989, Braz de Parra (Braz Rodrigues) rose to fame for his lyrics of ‘BLACK’ – the first Konkani e-Cinema produced by T-Bush Films in Kuwait.
Braz wrote and directed a drama’s called ‘Nagounno’ with a full professional caste when he was still in the 9th standard.
He later wrote and directed another drama ‘Rostad’.
Back in 2013, Braz released his maiden audio CD ‘Kosli Ixttagot’ consisting of celebrated Goan singers of Konkani stage.
