Kuwait: The first ever International Konkani Film Festival is set to spice up Kuwait's National holidays in a lengthy weekend.

The festival to be held on 25th & 26th February at the American International School Auditorium, Maidan Hawally is hosted by Goan Cultural Centre Kuwait in association with T-Bush International Films, and the Konkani Community of Holy Family Cathedral.

Everyone can see the excitement brewing and why not? Given a limited option of spending the holidays, the Konkani Film Festival is a perfect reason up for the Konkani community to bubble up. 

In recent times, the Konkani film producers have gone a notch above in giving the audience a blend of best music, comedy and a different genre of promising artistes.

The Kuwait Festival will be attended by number of dignitaries, directors, producers and artistes.

BIG BEN
At 10:30am

The ‘BIG BEN’ Konkani movie, written and directed by Mark de Araujo is apparently based on the adversities and lifestyle of Goans based in UK, and their influence on families back home in Goa.The movie explores into a number of interesting facts Goans about living in UK.


NIRMON
At 03:00pm

Directed and written by Sripad Pai and produced by Nilesh Newalkar and Armando Fernandes, it is the official remake of the 1966 film Nirmon. 

Set in the twenty-first century with a fresh cast, new screenplay and improved dialogues, the remake retains all the elements of the original movie from the storyline to the soulful songs, although with a few pinches and twists.

The new film has Anagha Joshi starring as Claudia, and Antonio Crasto as her husband. Veteran C. D'Silva is the oldest actor in the film.


HOME SWEET HOME – II
At 06:00pm

The film Home sweet Home 2 is a sequel to Home Sweet Home. Directed by Swapnil Shetkar, Home Sweet Home' movies are among the most widely watched Konkani movies.

The first movie was about land grab scam in Goa. The second film is apparently on Goan politicians and their role in ruining Goa.

ENEMY

Enemy, produced by A. Durga Prasad and directed by Dinesh P. Bhonsle is Film with an award winning string attached. In the midst of the festive season, a Goan Catholic family discovers that they have lost their property to the Government and their family honor is at stake.


NOSHIBACHO KHELL
At 03:00pm

Directed by Harry Fernandes Barkur and produced by Henry D’Silva Suratkal. Noshibacho Khell, the Mangalorean film is revolving around the story line of rural life, love and mystery.


NACHOM-IA KUMPASAR
At 06:00pm

Nachom-ia Kumpasar’ is a Konkani feature film – a tribute to Goan Music and the legendary musicians. Creating a strong niche and buzzing the Konkani world with acclaimed international awards. 

Narrated through the emotional roller coaster of a love story destined to tragedy, it celebrates Goan music through the eyes of its prodigiously eclectic generation of musicians in the 1960s and 70s.

Since its launch, the Bardroy Barretto directed masterpiece has earned large amount of support and praise for the film across India and abroad.

The cast of the movie includes Goan actors and actresses Comedian Netto, Prince Jacob, John D'Silva, Samy Braganza, Comedian Kenny, Selwyn Braganza, Roy Menezes, Abdonio, Meena Leitao, Mathew Araujo, Meenakshi Martins, Roque Lazarus, etc, among many others.
